Hanoi University of Civil Engineering welcomed President of Nagasaki University

On the afternoon of July 28, 2025, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering solemnly welcomed and held a meeting with a delegation from Nagasaki University.

The delegation from Nagasaki University was led by Prof. Takeshi Nagayasu, President of the university, together with accompanying members. Representatives from Hanoi University of Civil Engineering included Assoc. Prof. Hoang Tung – President; Prof. Nguyen Hoang Giang – Vice President; Prof. Tran Thi Viet Nga – Vietnamese Project Leader of SATREPS 2, along with members of the project implementation team.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Tung expressed his sincere appreciation to President Takeshi Nagayasu for his meaningful visit as well as for his strong support of the cooperative programs between the two universities over the years. He also expressed his hope that, in addition to the ongoing projects and programs, the two sides will continue to expand cooperation in research activities in order to further enhance professional and academic capacity.

Prof. Tran Thi Viet Nga presented an overview of the SATREPS 2 Project, including its objectives, implementation progress, and achievements to date. She also emphasized the active cooperation of Vietnamese partners such as Thuy Loi University, Hanoi Architectural University, Hanoi Water Limited Company, and Hai Phong Water Supply Joint Stock Company, where pilot models for monitoring treatment technologies and evaluating post-treatment river water quality are being implemented.

Both sides highly appreciate the initial achievements of the project and expressed confidence in its effectiveness and future progress. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Tung and President Takeshi Nagayasu exchanged commemorative gifts symbolizing their commitment to cooperation and determination to ensure the project's success as expected.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the delegation visited the laboratory facilities and listened to Prof. Takahiro Fujioka, the Japanese Project Leader, who delivered a detailed presentation on the research contents and technologies being developed within the framework of the SATREPS 2 Project.

The SATREPS 2 Project – “Establishing Sustainable Drinking Water Supply System Resilient to the Contamination of Drinking Water Sources” – is one of the key research projects under the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) Program, jointly funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). It is also the largest-scale research project funded under the Japanese Government's ODA framework for studies with global impact.
